We ended our trip with three days at a charming small hotel on the Pacific coast.  This area is hot, dry rain forest.  It is an area where sugar cane is grown along with pineapples, cantalope and watermelons.  We were there during the dry season - no rain until April or May.  Beautiful area.  You can imagine the savanerros (Savannah cowboys) riding their horses to round up cattle and travel to town.  We also took a river trip on the Tempesta River where we saw crocodiles, herons, egrets, nesting Macaws!!! and monkeys.  It was an amazing trip on a brackish water river that eventually ends up at the ocean.
